You know, learning how to play an actual guitar hasn’t really been that hard. I mean, I screw up the changes sometimes, and my fingers still don’t like the C chord, but it’s pretty easy to understand. Rock Band guitars, however, mystify me.
I’m reading the year-end Esquire this morning, as one does, and there’s a thing with Yoko (Lazy Self-Indulgent Book Reviews has always valued the Gestalt of Yoko), and they’re asking her about Lennon, and she says:
“Obviously, it was a very negative thing for me to lose such a good partner. He…
Hello all. This is important, a fellow Steampunk is in need so let’s all band together and help him out. So this is what it is all about:
The gentleman on the right is, Jordan. He’s not only a great guy with a wife and kid, but he also runs the steampunk/alternative music label Sepiachord. If you are on Diesepunks.org you might have seen him sharing new music with us every day, or you might have listened to The Sepiachord Passport this year. Jordan is one of the cornerstones of the community. Long story short, Jordan’s family recently got hit with some very serious medical bills. Even with insurance, payment plans, and a second job, Jordan is going to have to turn off everything and close Sepiachord for at least a few years until he can get back on his feet. So, if you have a few quid and a heart, you can help my friend give his family a good holiday. We may not be able to pay off everything, but we can at least make sure Jordan can keep his family warm and fed this Winter. How you can help: Purchase a copy of The Sepiachord Passport or Donate via PayPal. If you choose PayPal, the adress to send it to isdjpanix/at/sicthings.com. And please, spread the word!
Everything about the Sepiachord’s music curation is wonderful. I can’t do more than purchase one passport, but I do have the ability to pass this on. Help if you can. If nothing else, you’ll get awesome music and a warm, fuzzy feeling out of it.
Don’t know about the validity of the quote—though I’ve seen Gabe say similar things, because he likes to feed the fangirls—but no part of bandom has ever had a fourth wall. That’s just one of the first things to go when you get Pete Wentz involved.
you didnt put in MCR's new album i noticed, or Empires' BANG. MCR i can understand, empires, i cannot D:
of course i only have a couple of songs from the various albums you put up (which i also love) so i cant really compare them.
I was wondering how long it was going to take someone to call me out on MCR. ;)
The thing about the MCR album is that it didn’t blow me away. It didn’t make me want to listen to it over and over or write stories based on the songs or sing at the top of my lungs. I liked it well enough. A lot of it is catchy. I liked the world it was grounded in and how it sounds like channel surfing on Mad Max’s radio. I love the way fandom exploded over it. I love being a Killjoy. And of course, I like the boys a lot too. But I didn’t want to confuse any of those things with love for an album I wasn’t smitten with.
As for Bang, I completely forgot it came out this year. That’s more to do with my absentmindedness than with Empires themselves. I enjoyed the shit out of that.
Let me know if there’s anything I have you want more of, yeah?
(This is the video for Bang, for those that missed it: BANG!)
